I was fortunate enough to have my first Peruvian food experience at Chicama in Chelsea during my recent trip to London in June.
Chicama dedicates its menu to Peruvian seafood recipes – yes, you heard right Pescatarians, this King’s Road eatery is entirely meat-free.
Upon entering a particularly photogenic eating counter welcomed me in soft pastel marble which inclines me to think this is a restaurant that knows how to draw the crowds in (and hoards of Instagrammers/bloggers) like moths to a flame…We, however, decided to savor the warm summer weather and sat outside in their small but perfectly formed terrace.
The choices on the lunch menu are a glorious mixture of flavor and texture, and it’s not easy to pinpoint our favorites of the moment.
We started off with Padron peppers sprinkled in Maldon salt – a first for me.
Since it is the perfect venue for sharing plates, we opted for some highly recommended dishes by our waiter Stephan. Some include the sprouting broccoli, tapioca marshmallow in ocopa sauce, grilled prawns with toasted almonds and the sea bream ceviche. Every single dish was mouthwateringly delicious.
You can book a long table for a bigger group celebration, perfect with sharing plates and flowing cocktails. I’ll be back for sure during my next London visit!
Lunch or Dinner starts at around £50 per person including drinks.
