My 6-Step Morning Anti-Pollution Skincare Routine

It’s no secret that air pollution is a global problem. In fact, according to the World Health Organization, 91% of the world’s population lives in a place where air quality exceeds WHO guideline limits. And with new studies published in recent years (more on that later), it’s increasingly clear that this pollution can wreak havoc on your health, including your body’s largest organ — your skin.

I will share my 6-Step Morning Anti-Pollution Skincare Routine with you in this blog post.

But it’s not just about the products I’m using, but the order I use them. By applying skincare products most effectively, you’re making sure they’re working correctly and not wasting your money on expensive skincare.

Anti-Pollution fight products:

Because while traffic pollution has high concentrations in urban areas, air pollution is found everywhere and can take many forms, like free radicals. Don’t wait until you see the terrible signs of pollution on your skin. The combination of anti-pollution products and a consistent skincare regimen is the best way to keep your complexion healthy, whether you live in the city or the Winelands, as I do.

CHANEL L'Eau De Mousse

Step 1 – Cleanse with CHANEL L’Eau De Mousse

In the morning, I only use the CHANEL L’Eau De Mousse. Because I do full nighttime cleanse, I remove make-up and dirt; I do not need to double cleanse again. However, I need to ensure that my skin is protected against pollution, and this is currently one of my favourite cleansers to use. My skin has never looked better than when I cleanse with CHANEL L’Eau De Mousse. It features a purifying amino acid derivative and remineralizing marine spring water. A blend of anti-pollution blue micro-algae and marine Salicornia extract cleanses without disrupting the skin’s natural moisture balance or pH levels.

CLARINS

Step 2 – Tone with CLARINS Cleansing Micellar Water

Following cleansing, I use micellar water as a toner to add a water barrier to my skin. This helps to act as a good foundation for all that comes next. Currently, my favourite micellar water is the CLARINS Cleansing Micellar Water.

This freshwater enriched with the Gentle Complex from Le Domaine Clarins (organic yellow gentian & organic lemon balm) cleanses in one simple step while respecting skin microbiota.

What makes it so unique? It removes make-up residue and pollution particles. Preserves the skin microbiota.

Step 3 – Lip Balm

I recently discovered CLARINS’s Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm, and I love it! It is perfect for my often parched and damaged lips.

The product is enriched with comforting blue lotus wax; this balm’s rich melt-in texture protects, hydrates and nourishes lips, restoring their natural rosy glow and plumped appearance.

Anti-Pollution Endocare Radiance C Ferulic Edafence Serum

Step 4 – Add Endocare Radiance C Ferulic Edafence Serum

Now it’s time for what I call “the doers.” A serum is applied first to seep right into the skin. Doing this will help will seal in the other products.

My go-to anti-pollution serum is the Endocare Radiance C Ferulic Edafence Serum.

It stimulates cell regeneration within your skin, resulting in a more even skin tone and a healthier appearance. Furthermore, the Growth Factor Complex stimulates collagen regeneration for firmness and elasticity. It has an innovative anti-pollution technology that fights significantly against different forms of pollutions such as ozone, heavy metals, and tobacco smoke.

Lelive Crème de la Cream African mahogany everyday moisturizer

Step 5 – Moisturize

I’ll then move on to moisturizer. I currently love the Lelive Crème de la Cream African mahogany everyday moisturizer. It is not too thick and keeps my skin moisturized throughout the day. Vitamin E and Rosehip helps to protect my skin, and it is also super affordable.

Anti-Pollution Heliocare 360° Gel Oil-free SPF 50

Step 6 – Sun protection with Heliocare

Living in Franschhoek means I am often outdoors, whether I am taking a walk, playing tennis, or exploring wine farms. It is essential that my skin is protected and there is no other brand I trust more than Heliocare for the ultimate sun protection. Personally, I love the Heliocare 360° Gel Oil-free SPF 50. It is a lightweight, gel texture that leaves skin soft, smooth, and shine-free after I apply it. The unique oil-free formulation has a dry touch finish that melts into the skin – it is outstanding in hot, humid climates like Franschhoek. It also protects my skin from the harmful effects of the full solar radiation spectrum, including Visible Light (because I am using my laptop and cellphone almost daily for more than 6 hours – this is a must) and Infrared radiation.

While anti-pollution skincare is essential, don’t forget to take care of your body inside out by eating healthy, nutritious meals, exercising regularly and catching up on your ZZZs! This all will increase your metabolism and help your body eliminate toxins easier.
