My favourite beauty brand CHANEL started 2022 with a bang with the launch of N° 1 De Chanel, a new sustainable beauty line with Mademoiselle Chanel’s emblematic flower, the camellia, at its heart.
As most of you know, I have been obsessed with CHANEL since 2019, and you all know you are not really a true CHANEL fan until you finally own your first bottle of CHANEL No5.
For the past two months, I have used some of the key skincare products from the N° 1 de CHANEL line. They are divine, so I’ve put together some detailed thoughts below. Keep scrolling to read.
As discussed in previous posts, I have shared that the N° 1 de CHANEL is a line that focuses on the vitality and youthfulness of the skin, especially in a modern, urban environment. This sentiment speaks to me, as the toll of work and other stress factors is making itself known. My skin is often dehydrated, and I have fine lines around my eyes, mouth and forehead. And so, I crave formulations that will provide lightweight nourishment with environmental protection — two things N° 1 de CHANEL aim to deliver.
N°1 De Chanel Red Camellia Powder to Foam Cleanser
As you know by now, I absolutely love every face wash from CHANEL, so it did not surprise me that I would fall in love with this cleanser at the first face wash.
I love the texture of this. Removing the water from the formula makes the product way lighter, but the ultra-fine, camellia-enriched powder morphs into a soft, light cleansing foam on contact with water, then swooshes right away – and doesn’t leave skin tight or taut. 93% naturally-derived ingredients.
N°1 De Chanel Revitalizing Lotion
Fresh and light, the formula of this face toner is enriched with red camellia extract and camellia water.
Personally, it is one of my favourite products from this line and something that I would keep using during my skincare routine.
It refines skin texture, tightens pores and energises the skin. I use it straight after washing my face and before applying my serum.
N°1 De Chanel Revitalizing Serum
The basis of any good skincare routine starts first with a cleanser and then a serum that can instantly deliver its ingredients into the skin.
The star product in the No. 1 de Chanel range is the Revitalizing Serum, a powerful serum that prevents and corrects 5 signs of ageing – fine lines, loss of elasticity, loss of radiance, enlarged pores and deeper wrinkles.
First impressions of the N°1 De Chanel Revitalizing Serum: The cap has a unique mechanism that pops out as you twist. Push the top to then release the gel-like serum into your palm. Texture-wise, it’s velvety, and upon applying it to my skin, it absorbs beautifully, leaving a subtle floral fragrance that relaxes the mind. It also makes applying subsequent products in my skincare routine easier too.
N°1 De Chanel Revitalizing Eye Cream
This pearlescent white cream hydrates, refreshes, and instantly illuminates the eyes thanks to its formula enriched in plant-origin squalene and hyaluronic acid. I find this eye cream perfect for applying during the day mainly. However, I recommend using a more decadent eye cream at night if you are in your 40s like I am.
N°1 De Chanel Revitalizing Cream
The Revitalising Cream comes in a nice jar, that is frosted on the outside. I love that the red jar that contains the product inside comes in a refillable option for when you want to replenish the product.
The texture is lightweight for a cream and, like the serum, sinks beautifully into the skin. I find it a little light, so it works wonderfully during the day.
When you’re in your 40s like me, light-textured products are great for summer and use during the day, but what you really need is something that delivers more, especially in terms of ageing and during the night.
In my opinion, the No. 1 de Chanel range caters for a slightly younger crowd, especially if you are in your twenties and your thirties.
The Chanel Le Lift and Hydra Beauty range works better for my skin simply because it’s made for more mature skin that needs more care.
The No. 1 de Chanel range is available at CHANEL Fragrance and Beauty Boutiques at Sandton City and V&A Waterfront.
