CELEBRITY BY CHANEL

To mark the 100th anniversary of CHANEL N°5, CHANEL’s local PR team invited me to join on Friday 21 May 2021 to join this iconic brand as they host an intimate, insightful conversation on the ever-evolving notion of celebrity by launching their film CELEBRITY BY.

CHANEL captured my heart in 2019 when I was introduced to their Chanel Les Beiges Summer 2019 Collection. In celebration of the 100th anniversary of CHANEL N°5, to have received this invitation was one of the true highlights of my life so far.

CELEBRITY BY, the film is the latest in a series of inspiring content from the House as it reflects on “100 Years of Celebrity” as N°5 reaches its 100th anniversary.

Appearing in the film are celebrated actress and face of N°5 Marion Cotillard, distinguished ballet dancer and choreographer Marie-Agnès Gillot, Chinese fashion media icon Hung Huang, renowned psychologist Laurie Santos, esteemed former editor of Vanity Fair Graydon Carter, and international dance star Lil Buck.

Representing a diverse range of disciplines and geographies worldwide, each speaker offers their unique perspective on how the notion of celebrity continues to shape and reshape culture, creativity, and society.

Regardless of how celebrity changes, odds are that Chanel No. 5, the world’s most famous perfume, will continue to be a celebrity in its own right for another 100 years to come. As Laurie Santos says, “I think Chanel No.5 has sticking power; it’s the kind of brand that has been associated with incredibly polished, incredibly famous, incredibly beautiful people over the years, so it’s no surprise that if there’s any kind of celebrity that’s going to have sticking power, it’s probably going to be Chanel No. 5.”

To accompany the main film, CHANEL has also published individual video vignettes of each speaker to explore their intimate perspectives on celebrity in more depth.

The full film and individual videos are available to watch on CHANEL.com.
