The chefs at Boschendal are truly inspired and guided, by the seasons. When crafting his menus, Executive Chef Allistair Lawrence looks first to what the farm has provided, from fresh herbs and vegetables out of the bountiful Food Garden, and the abundant fruit orchards, the livestock that roam free on grassy pastures. This remarkable open-air pantry informs the diversity of culinary offerings on the estate, from contemporary small-plate dining at The Werf restaurant, to the generous bistro-style plates and ever-popular farm breakfasts at The Deli. For visitors looking to take home a taste of Boschendal, the shelves of the Farm Shop & Butchery are piled high with fresh vegetables from the Food Garden, farm salads, handcrafted estate products and artisan loaves of bread baked on-site each day. In the summer, generous picnic baskets can be enjoyed at tables laid out on the lawns surrounding the historic Rhone Homestead.
Activities at Boschendal
There is certainly no shortage of opportunities to work up an appetite on Boschendal Farm. Stretched across 1800-hectares, the estate ranges across orchards and vineyards, pristine fynbos and rugged mountain slopes. Strung out across this outdoor playground are world-class mountain bike and running trails – carefully laid out to cater for a range of experience levels – alongside scenic mountain walks through indigenous fynbos. Horse-back rides offer a more sedate way to explore the estate, with a choice of trails and mounts ensuring both novice and experienced riders will feel welcome.

This new online presence allows lovers of fine food and décor to seamlessly access the array of produce and products that are grown, crafted and created on the estate, and in the surrounding Winelands.
