Brahman Hills

“Brahman Hills is much more than just a country-style destination.”

About 2 hours drive from Durban, situated in the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands Meander lies a venue that screams tranquility, greener pastures. Brahman Hills is everything you need if you are looking for a short break away from the city madness.

The accommodation at Brahman Hills:

I visited Brahman Hills in November 2017 with my sister, and we stayed in 1 of 12 self-catering cottages they have on the property. Our cottage featured four bedrooms (way too big for 2 people sharing, but we loved the space), each with their own en-suite bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, private deck with our very own Jacuzzi, dining area and even braai facilities. It basically felt like an old farmhouse, and I totally loved it. If you are looking for a bed & breakfast option, they also have 30 double rooms available at their hotel on the property.

The Spa at Brahman Hills:

Located close to our cottage, with breathtaking views of green landscapes, The Spa at Brahman Hills was one of the highlights of my stay. It is made up of 8 treatment rooms, a dedicated Manicure and Pedicure room, a Tranquillity Lounge and a Champagne, Coffee and Chocolate Bar with a team of therapists that are highly skilled. We each enjoyed a deep tissue massage. After 60 minutes, all the stresses of the 2nd half of 2017 had washed away and I could honestly enjoy the rest of my weekend peacefully. The setting couldn’t be more perfect.

Dining at Brahman Hills:

During our stay, we had the opportunity to dine at their newly launched restaurant in their Wine Cellar – “89 on Copper”. We started off having wine at “Copper”, their bar in the cellar, a 70-seater bar that is kept warm by various fires, comfortable seating and an extended Bar Menu. The food was rustic, real and beautifully presented. My starter was their Panko Prawn with Lemon Aioli, Herb Crust and Tomato, followed by their Beef Fillet, served with Chinese cabbage, carrot and potato puree. I ended off the evening with their Lemon Cheesecake topped with wild Berry Coulis and served with their Vanilla Bean Ice-Cream. Indeed, a dinner to remember!

My experience at Brahman Hills:

My two-day stay at Brahman Hills gave me the perfect opportunity to unwind and relax, just in time before the silly Festive Season started. I spent my days wandering around the beautiful meander, discovering all that this beautiful place had to offer, from their abundant wildlife to their spectacular views to the wildlife that literally walked around our doorstep to the breathtakingly beautiful glass chapel on the property that overlooks a serene lake with panoramic views green luscious hills and spaces.

This tranquil country-side destination can only be likened to a little piece of paradise- and a somewhat undiscovered one, at that. It is a miracle that a place as beautiful as this hasn’t been discovered by the masses, although I have a feeling this gem of a place isn’t going to stay undiscovered for long.
