Reviewing The Beverly Hills Hotel Umhlanga
A bucket list can be anything – countries you want to visit, breathtaking moments you want to experience, people you want to meet… and so on and so forth. My list contains all of those things, but one something I have always wanted to do since my childhood was stay at The Beverly Hills Hotel Umhlanga in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
I’ve always been fascinated by the old school Hollywood glam this hotel has to offer for as long as I can remember. With its pale-pink exterior walls and classic interiors, not to mention its breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean, it is no surprise that The Beverly Hills Hotel Umhlanga has been affectionately dubbed ‘the pink palace’ of South Africa.
First, a little history for you: The award-winning 5-star Beverly Hills Hotel in Umhlanga, which first opened its doors in 1964, has become synonymous with elegance, gracious hospitality and intuitive service, no wonder it has played host to royalty, celebrities and captains of industry over the years.
ABOUT THE HOTEL:
The Beverly Hills Hotel Umhlanga is located right on the beachfront of Umhlanga and is only one of two five-star hotels in the greater Durban area. The interior offers effortless elegance, and it’s easy to see why it’s a favorite of the rich and famous, it indeed is a beautiful place to escape to.
MY ROOM:
The rooms all adhere to the hotel’s timeless and luxurious theme, with sumptuous bed linens, fluffy towels and a bed that screamed a high level of comfort. My room had the usual mod-cons and amenities like my favorite – a Nespresso coffee machine, flat screen TV and DVD, and modem plug points as well as fabulous extra touches; I was greeted by delicious desserts and fruits as well as a bottle of red wine. The bathroom was particularly impressive, with exclusive branded Beverly Hills Hotel toiletries.
EATING & DRINKING:
From The Sugar Club’s signature seafood specialties to trendy cocktails enjoyed at their cosmopolitan, Elements Café Bar where I had a delicious lunch, there is something to suit every taste.
However, I opted to have both my dinner and breakfast in my room. I was utterly impressed that their in-room dining still allows guests to experience the exquisite cuisine of their restaurants within the comfort and privacy of staying in your room.
SERVICE & FACILITIES:
Since the moment I arrived at The Beverly Hills Hotel Umhlanga, I was welcomed by staff with big smiles, cold scented towels, a glass of bubbles and excellent porter service. The incredible service did not end there. Throughout my stay, the staff were fantastic and made my stay very memorable.
The Beverly Hills Hotel Umhlanga is sure to evoke an iconic sense of nostalgia, timeless elegance, and romance. I highly recommend this hotel if you are a business or luxury traveler and visiting Durban or Umhlanga.
